Botvin Lifeskills Training
  • John Gottman: "In the last decade or so, science has discovered a tremendous amount about the role emotions play in our lives. Researchers have found that even more than IQ, your emotional awareness and abilities to handle feelings will determine your success and happiness in all walks of life, including family relationships."
--From Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child

Emotion intelligence is undoubtedly one of the most important contributors to the future success of our students. As a result, the Botvin Lifeskills Training curriculum will be incorporated into health lessons for seventh and ninth grade students. Examples of the topics covered during these lessons are as follows: anger management, anxiety and stress management, healthy relationships, media awareness, positive self-concept, drug and alcohol refusal training, assertiveness training, communication skills, etc. The ultimate goal of this evidence and research-based curriculum is to assist students in developing life skills that will lead to their future success as an adult. We highly encourage you to support this program by reviewing the lessons with your child. One of the best ways to ensure the acquisition of skills taught in any content area is to provide extra reinforcement at home. Thank you for your support!
